

Common Cents...What is it?
Otherwise known as Resolution 2007-3 Common Cents is a general purpose one-cent sales tax proposed to fund improvement projects throughout Washakie County, including projects in The City of Worland, and the Town of Ten Sleep.
How was the proposed resolution drafted?
A committee comprised of representatives from government and the private sector drafted the resolution. Among other things this committee reasearched similar resolutions throughout the state of Wyoming and devolped an effective and appropriate resolution for the needs of Washakie County.
When will the tax begin?
Immediately upon conclusion of the current special purpose tax, the proposed general purpose tax will take effect.
There will be no lapse or change in the sales tax rate.
Will This Raise Sales Tax in Washakie County To 6%?
NO. The proposed general purpose tax will not raise the sales tax rate above the current 5%.
How will the funds collected be distributed?
Funds collected will be deposited into a single account. The Washakie County clerk will then distribute the funds as allocated in the resolution. There will be no need to create any other governing body or board to ensure funds are dispersed.
Who will benefit from the tax?
The penny provides quality of life projects, making Washakie County a better place to live, work and visit.
What about funds collected beyond the dollar amounts specified in the resolution? Who will determine their use?
As outlined in resolution 2007-3 current governing bodies such as the City of Worland, The Town of Ten Sleep and the Washakie County Commissioners will determine the use of any overage funds collected via the tax.
